The Perfect Gift

October 6, 2026 · by Joanna Mills

The Perfect Gift
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

St John 4:10
Jesus answered and said unto her, if thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

St John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus Christ was and is that good and perfect gift of God. Given freely to all men, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus Christ gave his life on the Cross for us. His death on the Cross is the only way all the good and perfect gifts are given to us from God.

Everything, yes everything and anything we receive from God as believers is directly given to us and made possible by the first gift, The Cross. We receive Salvation because of the gift of the Cross. We receive the gift of the Holy Ghost because of the gift of the Cross. We receive healing because of the gift of the Cross. We have God's ear!!! Our prayers are answered because of the gift of the Cross. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights.

Apostle James said there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning in God. God doesn't change!!! His Word is forever settled in Heaven. We can believe and receive His precious gifts.

St John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
St Matthew 7:11
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

If God loved you so much as a sinner that he sent his son, to die for you. How much more now, that you have given your life to him, that God will meet your needs when you ask him.

1 John 3:20-24
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
And this is his commandment, that we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

St Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

1 John 1:5-7
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

God is light, walk in the light. Then in faith ask in prayer and receive every good gift and every perfect gift from the Father of lights.
